Jensen Family History - 2025
Jase, Ellen, Evan, Eli, and Elsie
This year was another incredible year of growth and change for our family. There is never a mundane year in the Jensen household, that is for sure! Our most significant life update for the year happened on January 10th, just two days before Ellen’s birthday. That was the exciting birth of our baby girl, Elsie! Elsie is our third child and our first baby girl, and we were very excited to welcome her to our family! She was also Ellen’s first full-term pregnancy, and it was so nice to have a normal, smooth birth. It also came with added benefits such as being able to breastfeed “easily.” As we entered December last year, Ellen began having lots of episodes of contractions, some of which even admitted her to the hospital. We fully expected Elsie to come early just like the boys did, but we were pleasantly surprised when Ellen’s contractions subsided, and the pregnancy continued chugging along. We are grateful we had a healthy, happy baby - and no NICU stay!
The best part of February was welcoming Jase’s sister Jaiden home from her mission! Other than that, February was quiet and full of newborn snuggles, but March was a very eventful month yet again. Jase’s dad had a connection in St. George looking for a Marketing Director. Ellen applied, and they quickly reviewed her application, interviewed her, and offered her the job (to start on the coming Monday) all in the same week! This was a better job than Jase’s, so we decided to move back to St. George! Ellen and the kids moved that weekend and began her job, while Jase stayed to finish his two-week notice. We found a place in the middle of town in St George, and we love our new home! Ellen now serves as the Marketing Director at Liberty Village, a Hurricane-based nonprofit dedicated to teaching America’s founding principles in a non-partisan, Revolutionary-era setting to help inspire informed and engaged citizens. Jase is the new stay-at-home dad, and he spends all his time juggling three littles. He also started working at the local VASA kid care (in May) because he can bring the kids to work, and enjoys taking them out of the house.
The house we moved into in our neighborhood is fantastic! We took some time looking around to find something spacious enough for us but within our budget, and finally settled on renting a home right across from our church building. We love the nice weather St. George provides and get to enjoy a fantastic yard, where the kids run around and play all day. It feels like we are finally in a space where we could settle down. We aren’t sure if Jase will be the stay-at-home parent forever or if we will eventually swap back. Still, we are pretty confident St. George is where we would like to settle down and raise our family long term - and we hope we can continue to find opportunities to grow here!
As we settled into the area and our new ward, we made lots of friends and reconnected with old ones, which is one of the reasons we love it so much! One of Jase’s old seminary teachers happens to be the bishop, which was quite a coincidence, and we knew several other people in our ward as well. The boys love their primary and nursery classes, even though there aren’t many kids. Ellen and Jase were originally called to teach Gospel Principles together, but after a few months, Jase was called to the Elders Quorum Presidency and Ellen to the Young Women’s Presidency. We miss teaching together, but we’re grateful for and enjoying our new callings.

In the summer, we enjoyed many of the same things we did last year, including lots of outdoor time, swimming, and camping. Jase helped plan the Jensen family vacation (Father's Day Flee) and chose our new favorite camp spot, Crazy Cow Farm Adventure in Samaria, ID. It was really fun to take the whole family there because some of our ancestors settled in that valley, but we also love the campground and all the fun activities it offers.
As the school year began and Evan approached preschool age, we decided to dive into homeschooling and joined an incredible local cohort. Jase and the kids meet with the group weekly for lessons, field trips, parties, and park days, and Ellen joins whenever work allows. Jase leads the music portion of the weekly gatherings as the kids prepare for a December performance. This semester, the kids explored science topics like birds, rocks, and stars/space, while Evan has also been learning through Waterford, an online preschool program that Eli loves to watch alongside him. It has been so rewarding to see the boys learn and grow, and we’re grateful for the start of our homeschooling journey.
Of course, it wouldn’t truly be a complete family history if we didn’t make a plug for laser tag. The move to St George also meant a reunification with Jase’s laser tag team. You best believe we have been going every Tuesday night to play laser tag. Jase loves laser tag, and Ellen doesn't mind playing with him. At the beginning of October, Jase traveled to Syracuse, New York, for a small tournament. The 2026 International Laserforce Tournament will be held there next summer, so Jase was excited to practice a bit early with his team since he had never been there. He had a lot of fun and said this was his favorite arena so far! He is very excited to go back! While Jase was gone, Ellen took the kids up north to camp at Crazy Cow Farm and then spent some time with family as well. They had a great time at our favorite campsite. Ellen is awesome for taking all three little kids camping by herself, but she’d call it glamping since she “splurged” on a trailer to sleep in.
In November, we went up to visit Ellen’s family twice. The first time was for the Liberty Village Gala, which was held at the aquarium in Draper. Ellen and Jase had so much fun getting all dressed up fancy for the gala. It was another busy work period leading up to it, but the gala was a huge success, and hopefully it can be next year as well. The second time we went up to visit Ellen’s family was to celebrate Thanksgiving and welcome Ellen’s brother, Danny, home from his mission. He returned home the day before Thanksgiving, and we are so excited to have him home!
As we get into December, we are so excited to celebrate the Christmas season with all of our family and friends. We have been very blessed, and we feel so grateful to know so many wonderful people. You each have had a remarkable impact on our lives, and we are thankful for every one of you! We hope to hear from each of your families to see how you have also grown and the impact you have made. We love you all and wish you a very merry Christmas!
